The Region
The medieval city of Kilkenny is well-known for its magnificent castle, one of the most famous landmarks of Ireland. It was built by the Normans in the 12th and 13th century. Ireland's second largest St. Canice's Cathedral was built in the 13th century and goes back to a monastic settlement founded in the 6th century. Many beautifully restored buildings and winding alleyways characterize the old town which is small and compact enough to explore on foot. Minotel Club House is located in Kilkenny county, about 125 km south-west of Dublin. The hotel lies in the heart of town, less than a 2-minute walk from the shopping district and 200 m from Kilkenny Castle away.

Arrival by car :
Coming from Dublin,
take the N7/M7 in the direction of Limerick. After about 50 km, turn onto the M9/N9 in the direction of Carlow / Waterford. In Whitehall, turn right onto the N10 which takes you to Kilkenny.

Arriving by ferry from Fishguard, Pembrok or France (Roskoff, Le Havre, Cherbourg) in Rosslare,
take the N25 in the direction of Waterford. Turn right onto the N9. Near Knocktopher, continue on the N10 until Kilkenny.
This route is about 120 km long.
If you prefer a truly scenic route which also happens to be more economical, take the R700 in New Ross in the direction of Thomastown / Kilkenny.
This route is about 90 km long.

Coming from Cork Airport, take the N25 in the direction of Waterford and then like mentioned above the N9 and N10 until Kilkenny.

Coming from Shannon Airport, which is also within a range of 160 km from the hotel, drive to Limerick and take the N24 in the direction of Waterford. Having passed Caher and Clonmel, turn left onto the N76 which takes you directly to Kilkenny.

Arrival by train :
Coming from Cork, Shannon and Rosslare, change the train in Waterford in order to reach Killkenny.
Coming from Dublin you may take a direct train. The journey takes about 2 hours.
