The delicious meals prepared by the owner are part of the hotel’s fame. Just as the saying goes, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Try our appetizing barbecues. They are our big speciality. Served on a hot soapstone, they come with fresh salad and potato croquettes. A glass of our many, carefully selected wines from the Valais vineyards ideally accompanies our dishes.

Our Children's Play Ground

Take a break on our terrace while your children are having a frolic on our big playground. In wintertime, kids and parents alike will have so much fun on the great, long toboggan run just behind the hotel.

The Region

Nestled at an altitude of 1'300 meters, Reckingen-Gluringen is a typical and welcoming village in a valley dotted with granaries. The “Spycher” called granaries were built on stilts into which a large stone disc was inserted to prevent rodents from getting to the harvest and eating it up. The Goms valley stretches to the Rhone glacier and is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn area, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The relaxing setting makes for a perfect holiday and allows for great outdoor activities.

If you are fond of rambling, you will find perfect conditions and paths covering more than 700 km in a devine alpine landscape. The three traditional itineraries "Herrenweg" (to the Aletsch glacier), " Gommer Höhenweg" (from Oberwald to Bellwald) and "Rottenweg" (from Oberwald to Ernen) allow you to discover the natural beauties of the Valais. Fishing, rafting, mountain biking, golfing, paragliding are some other diverting summer sports to do in the Goms valley.

Reckingen is a true paradise for cross-country skiing, but you will also find alpine skiing slopes which are ideal for a family vacation. Nothing like fresh air and healthy outdoor activities to recharge your batteries far away from the hassle of the city !

Map & Directions

Arrival by car:
From Geneva/Lausanne: take the highway N9 until Sierre. Follow the direction of Brig and carry on the main road of the Goms Valley (Upper Valais region) up to Reckingen.

From Zurich/Lucerne or Berne: take the highway N9 until Sierre. Follow the direction of Brig and carry on the main road of the Goms Valley (Upper Valais region) up to Reckingen. In the summer, you can also take the Grimsel pass (Grimselpass) or the Furka pass (Furkapass) in order to reach Reckingen via the Bernese Oberland or the centre of Switzerland.

From Italy via/or from Ticino: Take the direction of Airolo via the highway N2 then take the Nufenen pass and its 2'478 metres! Be careful this pass is only open during the summer.
To reach Reckingen in the winter, you must use the Simplon pass (closed if massive snowfalls), or then join up with Andermatt and enjoy the car by train via the Furka railway tunnel.

From Italy via Domodossola and the Simplon pass: (in winter: please check if the Simplon pass is open) in Brig, follow the main road direction of the Furka pass (Furkapass) up to Reckingen.

For a better (and often quicker) access to Reckingen, as another option, cars can be transported by train through the Alpine railway tunnels like the Lötschberg (Kandersteg/Goppenstein) and the Furka lines (Oberwald/Realp). You may call on 0900 300 300 for more information.

Arrival by train:
The Swiss train company CFF/SBB offers many daily international connections between France/Geneva/Lausanne, Basle/Zurich/Berne/Lötschberg and Brig/Simplon/Italy.

From Brig, take the regional train of the Furka-Oberalp Bahn (FO) which stops at Reckingen. This train continues then to the Graubunden region/Chur.

Reckingen is located on the famous Glacier-Express train route which liaises the ski resorts of Zermatt and St-Moritz.

During the winter season, some fast trains TGV from France extend their routes to the Valais region! Please check before departing.
